22-Year-Old Caught Speeding Over 45 km/h Above Limit on M1 Highway

In a recent development, authorities from Lake Macquarie Police District Highway Patrol apprehended a 22-year-old driver for allegedly speeding excessively on the M1 highway. The incident occurred around 12:56 pm on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, when the young man, identified as a Cameron Park resident, was reportedly clocked driving a Toyota Camry at a staggering 172 km/h in the northbound lanes of Morisset, where the speed limit is 110 km/h.

Upon interception by law enforcement, the driver was promptly pulled over and issued a penalty notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45 km/h. The penalty entails a hefty fine of $2794 along with six demerit points added to his driving record. Furthermore, his New South Wales driver’s license was immediately suspended for six months, and the vehicle’s plates were seized for a period of three months.
