A 22-year-old man is fighting for his life after being dropped off at Lake Macquarie Private Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest on Thursday night.
Emergency services were called to the Gateshead hospital around 7:50 PM after reports the man had “presented” with the injury. Paramedics and Lake Macquarie police attended the scene before transferring him to John Hunter Hospital in critical condition.
Detectives have launched an investigation to determine where the shooting occurred and who was involved. Authorities have not confirmed whether the man was shot at another location before being left at the private hospital.
