About 8.30pm (Wednesday 24 February 2021), a man, armed with a firearm, entered a takeaway food store on Cowper Street, Wallsend, and threatened four employees before stealing cash, a handbag. The armed man fled out the back door and a female employee chased him into nearby Irving Street where he was seen to get in the passenger side of a car and drive off. Officers attached to Newcastle City Police District attended and established a crime scene. The employees were not physically injured.
