Merriwa, NSW – Police have confirmed the discovery of a body inside a car submerged in the Merriwa River.
Emergency services responded to reports of a car overturned in the water along the Golden Highway at approximately 6:00 AM this morning.
“A crime scene was established by police from Hunter Valley Police District, with officers working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,” stated a spokesperson from NSW Police. “A body has since been located in the vehicle; however, identification has not yet taken place.”
