Low-lying parts of Dungog are now under threat as the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) warns residents to prepare for isolation, with the Williams River expected to reach moderate flood levels (7.60m) overnight, between Monday and Tuesday.
Watch and Act alerts are now active for the following areas:
- Alison Road area
- Bandon Grove
- Bendolba
- Fosterton Road area
At 5:52 PM Monday, the Bureau of Meteorology recorded the river at 1.91 metres and rising — still below the minor flood level of 4.90m, but forecast rainfall could push it well beyond that threshold tonight.
Authorities are urging residents to act now:
“You may be trapped without power, water, and essential services. It may be too dangerous for NSW SES to rescue you,” the warning states.
Residents should assess how potential isolation will impact family, work, and school arrangements, and take necessary precautions immediately.
