In the early hours of Monday, May 6th, 2024, a 35-year-old man faced a barrage of charges following a harrowing encounter with law enforcement in Gateshead. Allegedly, the suspect engaged in a daring escapade, culminating in a collision with a police vehicle.
At approximately 12:20 am, authorities observed a stolen Mazda E2000 entering a driveway on Oakdale Road. Swift police action attempted to intercept the vehicle, only to be met with resistance as the suspect recklessly reversed, striking the police car.
Undeterred, the suspect fled the scene, resulting in a frantic pursuit. The chase concluded on Kopa Street, Whitebridge, where the Mazda collided with two parked vehicles before the suspect abandoned the car and fled into nearby bushland.

The 35-year-old male now faces a litany of charges, including illegal conveyance, possession of stolen goods, driving while disqualified, resisting arrest, assault on a police officer, negligent driving, failure to provide particulars, and reckless driving.
