Cessnock City Council has confirmed the appointment of Natalia Cowley as its new General Manager in what is being described as a significant leadership move for the region.

Ms Cowley brings extensive experience in local government, having built a reputation as an award-winning leader with a strong background in financial management and organisational reform. A Fellow Chartered Accountant, she has previously led large and complex councils through periods of financial recovery and transformation.

Council officials say her appointment comes at a critical time, with a focus on strengthening performance, improving services, and delivering positive outcomes for the community.

As a resident of the Cessnock Local Government Area, Ms Cowley is also said to have a strong understanding of local issues, challenges, and future opportunities.
