Cessnock, NSW — October 29, 2025:A 39-year-old Cessnock man has been granted bail after being charged over a fire at PCYC Cessnock earlier this month. Police allege the man broke into the Short Street venue around 8 am on Sunday, 19 October, and attempted to set the foyer on fire using an accelerant. The blaze failed to spread and extinguished itself before causing major damage. Officers from the Hunter Valley Police District established a crime scene and launched an investigation, with assistance from the Proactive Crime Team and Hunter Valley Detectives.
