Eight year old flown to John Hunter in critical condition.

Emergency services were called to a two-car crash at Killarney Vale this afternoon on the Central Coast.

On arrival emergency services were confronted with an eight-year-old boy who was trapped with critical injuries.

NSW Police were able ti free the boy and NSW paramedics treated at the scene before being flown to the John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.

The boy was a passenger in a sedan, whose female driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The female driver of the other vehicle, a black SUV, was uninjured. The woman aged in her 40s was taken to Gosford Hospital for mandatory testing.

Tuggerah Lakes Police established a crime scene that will be forensically examined by specialist police.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has commenced.
