Tragedy has struck in the Hunter region after an elderly woman succumbed to injuries sustained in a brutal two-car crash near Lake Macquarie. Emergency services rushed to James Street, Windale, around 3:30 PM on Friday, February 7, after reports of a serious collision between a Hyundai i30 and a Ford Fiesta. The 82-year-old driver of the Hyundai was trapped in the wreckage before being freed and treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
