Exclusive Leak: ‘Don’s Revenge’ Rocks Maitland ALP Pre-Selection

According to insider reports, Former Mayor Lorreta Baker and Cr Robert Aitchison have been denied the nomination to run in the upcoming election for the ALP.

Reliable sources indicate that Cr Whiting has secured the nomination as the ALP Mayoral Candidate, marking a significant shift in the political landscape.

According to the insider , this decision is speculated to be linked to what has been termed “Don’s revenge,” referencing former Maitland Labor councillor Donald Ferris, who successfully defeated ‘Vote Yes’ activist Caitlin Coombe in a closely contested pre-selection battle. Ferris, previously ousted after one term by former Mayor Baker, has emerged victorious, reshaping the ALP candidacy.

Additionally, Clr Ben Whiting, known for his stance on fortnightly bin collections and opposition to bulk waste collections, has reluctantly accepted the role of mayoral candidate following the departure of other ALP councillors.

The remaining candidates are expected to be filled by Amelia Atkinson and Race Barstow, completing the ALP lineup amidst a backdrop of political intrigue and maneuvering. Stay tuned for further updates as the election season unfolds.
