Fire Forces Cessnock City Council Garbage Truck to Dump Its Load

Breaking News: Fire Incident Forces Cessnock City Council Garbage Dump

A fire erupted in the rear of a waste collection truck during routine kerbside pickup in Cliftleigh this morning. The driver, adhering to emergency procedures, promptly unloaded the contents of the truck to mitigate the situation. Thankfully, the driver is reported safe.

Authorities emphasize the importance of not disposing of batteries or any items containing lithium-ion batteries in waste bins. Residents are urged to utilize designated drop-off points at the Administration Building, Waste Management Centre, Cessnock and Kurri Kurri libraries, or popular retailers like Coles, Woolworths, Bunnings, and Officeworks. Car and large batteries must be surrendered to the CRC at the Waste Management Centre.

The cleanup operation is already in progress, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been informed of the incident, ensuring swift action and containment measures. Stay tuned for further updates.
