A man and woman have been arrested over alleged firearm offences in the Lower Hunter region.
Police launched an investigation late Sunday evening (4 May) after receiving a report from a member of the public regarding a social media video allegedly showing a man firing a gun out of a moving vehicle on two separate occasions.
Around 2:35am Monday, officers conducting covert surveillance spotted a white Mazda CX5 in Burley Street, Tenambit. It’s alleged a man inside the parked vehicle fired a single shot into the air.
With assistance from PolAir, police tracked the vehicle to a property on Coal Point Road, Coal Point, where Tactical Operations Unit officers established a perimeter.
At approximately 5:15am, a 27-year-old man exited the home and was arrested without incident. Shortly after, a 22-year-old woman was also arrested at the premises.
Both were taken to Toronto Police Station as inquiries continue. There have been no reports of injuries or property damage.
