Hay you that’s fruad, man charged over hay scam.

The scam was so simple and preyed on desperate farmers who are willing to do anything to feed their stock in desperate times,

A 27 year old man was advertising discounted hay on social media to desperate farmers in drought stricken in NSW to feed stock, the man would ask for a deposit upfront and never deliver the product the farmer.

The 27-year-old man has allegedly taken $40,000 from 13 farmers across NSW

NSW Police set up strike team Woden to investigate the hay fraud, and it took less than 24 hours for an arrest to be made.

About 7.40am (Thursday 23 January 2020), Strike Force Woden investigators, assisted by Bass Hill Region Enforcement Squad, executed a search warrant at Villawood.

A 27-year-old man was arrested at the property and taken to Fairfield Police Station, where he was charged with 13 counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception.

Police will allege in court that the man fraudulently obtained more than $40,000 from 13 victims.

The man was refused bail.
