Hunter MP says building more social housing is a win win

The member for Swansea Yasmine Catley is calling on the Berejiklian Government to invest in the construction of social housing dwellings as a way to boost the economy, create jobs and reduce the number of people without stable accommodation across the state.

She says a report by the NSW Council of Social Services could create 18000 new jobs in the construction industry if the government invested in 5000 new affordable social dwellings across NSW

A report released today by the NSW Council of Social Services outlined how a boost in the investment in social housing will not only stimulate the NSW economy but also create jobs and reduce the number of people without stable accommodation across the state.

Yasmine Catley says ” these projects will mean more jobs across metro and regional areas, and more long term social housing across the state – it’s a win-win.

We know building and construction is a very effective way to generate jobs and stimulate the economy. Now more than ever, we must prioritise investment in public infrastructure, including social housing.”
