HNE Covid-19 Nightly update, a lot has happened over the past few days in terms of new lockdown rules and stimulus packages for business to keep workers on.
People who can work from should. People are only to leave the house for essential shopping, medical appointments and or exercise. Public gatherings of two or more people are banned.

As of 8pm 30th of March the HNE recorded 8 new cases which for the second day in row has been dropping. This could be due to less testing and less people returning to the HNE. There are 12 cases of community transmissions which is concerning.
The Curve
The curve continues to go up but is showing early signs of slowing. If this trend continues we can fatten the curve in the HNE area.
The big picture.
Tonight we can show a few new stats which includes total cases, active cases, recovered cases, home isolation cases, cases requiring hospital care, and critical patients in the ICU. these metrics give us a better view of the overall picture of how it’s looking.
Cases by age group.
These figures are of concern as the 70 to 79 year old age bracket has more cases than the others.
How the patient became in infected
What is of concern is 12 cases are of community transmission, we know from one previous experience 1 person infected 34 more people at a Sydney wedding.
Local Government Area Breakdown
Just a side note because of chart size only Hunter LGA are included. Newcastle is the biggest hot spot for COVID-19 cases.
Final Thought
Cases numbers are dropping for now and this could be due to less people returning from overseas. Community spread appears to be low. we seem to be getting ahead of the virus but it’s still to early to declare victory.
