Jenny Aitchison MP Under Scrutiny for Allegedly Using Taxpayer Funds on Lollies, Cigarettes, and Soft Drinks
During the recent budget estimates, Jenny Aitchison, a member of parliament, faced rigorous questioning regarding the alleged use of taxpayer money to purchase various items such as lollies, cigarettes, and soft drinks that she had given a journalist access to tax payer money to purchase the items on her behalf. When questioned, Aitchison mentioned her intention to repay the money, but could not confirm whether the repayment had been made, and believes she has done nothing wrong.
This incident marks yet another instance of a breach of the ministry code of conduct within the Labor Minns Government, adding to the recent controversy surrounding Hunter MP Tim Crackenthrop. Crackenthrop was dismissed from the cabinet by Chris Minns following his failure to disclose property ownership by his wife and family, potentially leading to conflicts of interest. The matter is currently under investigation by the anti-corruption commission.
