A 65-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle crash on a remote road in the Hunter region.
Emergency services were alerted when the man was brought to Merriwa Hospital around 4:20 PM on Saturday (15 February 2025) by a family member. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
Police reports indicate the man was a passenger in a 4WD that crashed and rolled on Roma Road, approximately 40km north of Merriwa. The vehicle was being driven by a 14-year-old girl, who was unharmed in the accident.
The crash site, located in an area with no mobile reception, was only discovered when a neighbor and a family member came across the scene. They transported the injured man to the hospital, but he did not survive.
Hunter Valley Police have established a crime scene, and the Crash Investigation Unit is conducting inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
