Maitland City Council has voted to implement a controversial waste collection policy from 2024 which will see household waste bins collected fortnightly whilst introducing food scraps into the green waste bin which will now be emptied weekly. All ALP (Baker, Aitchison, Meskauskas, Whiting, Ferris) and Libs Ben Mitchell and Kanchan Ranadive all voted in favor of changing the garbage collection policy, Cr Halliyday, Cr Griffin and team Penfold voted against.
