On Saturday, 14 December 2024, around 6:40 PM, Brisbane Water Highway Patrol officers were conducting speed enforcement on the Old Pacific Highway in Somersby when they detected a BMW S1000 motorcycle traveling at a staggering 193km/h in a 70km/h zone.
The rider, who holds an overseas driver’s licence, was stopped and charged with two offences: ‘Exceed speed > 45 km/h’ and ‘Driving at a speed dangerous to the public.’ As a result, the rider’s NSW driving privileges were immediately withdrawn, and the motorcycle’s registration plates were confiscated for three months.
The case is set to appear before Gosford Local Court in January 2025.
