Multiple Car Crashes in Wallsend
On Monday, May 27, 2024, Wallsend Fire Rescue responded to two separate motor vehicle crashes. The first incident occurred at approximately 4:45 PM at the intersection of Metcalfe Street and Perk Street. Crews arrived to find two vehicles with significant damage from a collision. The debris was cleared, and the road was reopened shortly after. Both drivers were treated on-site by paramedics and were not taken to the hospital.
Later, at around 9:20 PM, Wallsend Fire Rescue was called to another crash on Robert Street. A Kia station wagon had collided with a telegraph pole, sustaining substantial damage to the front near side. The driver was tested and returned a negative result. He received a penalty notice for negligent driving. Ausgrid attended to inspect the telegraph pole and found no issues.
