Newcastle has secured its place on the world stage, with the city set to host four pool matches in the 2027 Men’s Rugby World Cup. The announcement marks a major win for the Hunter region, bringing international rugby to local fans and providing a significant boost to the local economy.
The tournament, scheduled to run from 1 October to 13 November 2027, will see matches played across seven Australian cities, including Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, and Townsville. Sydney’s Accor Stadium has been chosen to host the final, as well as both semi-finals and two quarter-finals.
