Nightly Hunter COVID-19 Update.

The Curve

The number of new cases is dropping this is because of the returning cruise ship passengers have slowed down. There was an additional 10 cases bringing the total to 218 cases.

Cases that required hospital treatment

There was an additional 10 cases for the HNE as of 8pm the 30th of March. 33 people have recovered and 6 people remain in the ICU. 19 people remain in hospital in a stable condition.

Cases by local government area

Newcastle still has more cases than any other area. Tonight we have added the Mid-Coast to our chart. Remember click on the chart and rotate your phone to see the chart in full screen.

Cases by age.

45% of cases are aged 60 and over and are considered high risk. What is interesting is the amount of people in the 20 to 29 age bracket.

How transmission occurred

Majority of cases are directly linked to overseas cases. There was two new cases of community transmission. Three cases still under investigation.

Final Thought

Whilst daily case numbers have dropped since the weekend, we are still witnessing a consistent number of new cases. We are seeing signs of community transmission which everyone should be mindful of. There is reason to be alert but not to panic. Be kind to each other and continue to practice great hygiene and keep your distance.
