Last night, around 6 p.m., Emergency Services including the Cessnock District Rescue Squad was called into action following a distressing motor vehicle collision on Hart Road in Loxford. Upon arrival, our dedicated volunteers were met with a scene of two vehicles entangled in a collision, each with one individual trapped by the compression of their lower bodies. The response was immediate and coordinated, with multiple emergency services agencies, including VRA Rescue NSW, NSW Ambulance, NSW Police Force, Fire and Rescue NSW, and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, mobilizing swiftly.
Utilizing hydraulic rescue tools, Cessnock District Rescue Squad skilled responders successfully extricated both occupants from their precarious positions within minutes of each other. Following the rescue, the individuals were carefully placed onto spine boards and transported to awaiting emergency vehicles for further assessment and transported to John Hunter Hospital.
