In a recent Facebook post, the NSW Teachers Federation announced an innovative addition to the curriculum for Kindergarten students in New South Wales. The federation expressed its enthusiasm for a new collaboration with SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium, aiming to educate young minds about the captivating story of Sphen and Magic, a same-sex penguin couple.
Through the Federation’s Knowledge Centre section on its website’s Member Portal, teachers will gain access to a comprehensive unit of work specifically designed to align with the NSW syllabus. This unit of work encompasses various activities categorized into pre-excursion, excursion, online excursion, and post-excursion segments.
Educators have the flexibility to utilize the complete unit of work or select individual learning activities according to their program’s needs. This groundbreaking initiative encourages inclusivity and promotes understanding among young students, fostering a progressive learning environment.
