A man has died and a second man is under police guard in Tamworth Base Hospital following a stand-off with police overnight. Emergency services were called to a home unit on Goonoo Goonoo Road, Tamworth, about 4.30pm yesterday (Saturday 22 February 2025), following reports of a concern for welfare. On arrival, officers attached to Oxley Police District found a 47-year-old man suffering critical head injuries, with another man nearby allegedly armed with a knife.
