Out on bail, fake plates, excessive speed equals an expensive day

Hunter Valley Highway Patrol detect a motorcycle traveling in excess of the speed limit on Leggetts Drive, Mount Vincent, but when stopped identify a number of further offences.

At 12:54pm on Wednesday the 12th January 2022, police from Cessnock Highway Patrol have stopped a white and red motorcycle as a result of exceeding the speed limit. Upon checking the registration affixed to the motorcycle it was discovered the registration plate belonged to a Honda 150cc motorcycle which the registration had expired in 2009.

A check of the VIN revealed the motorcycle was a Yamaha R1 and the registration had also expired in 2017. The rider of the R1 had previously been stopped by police for driving whilst disqualified and as such had bail conditions imposed upon him. As the rider was still disqualified and in breach of his bail conditions, he was arrested and conveyed to Cessnock Police Station where he was charged with driving whilst disqualified and breach bail.

The rider was also issued penalty notices for use unregistered motor vehicle, use uninsured motor vehicle, owner use vehicle on road with tax unpaid, unlawfully possess number plates, use class A vehicle with unauthorised plates and class A motor vehicle exceed speed.
