New South Wales residents may soon be able to obtain prescriptions for medications prescribed by pharmacists instead of having difficulty obtaining an appointment with their local physician.
Available prescriptions would include birth control, antibiotics and repeated prescriptions for conditions like blood pressure.
Premier Dominic Perrottet says the state could no longer wait for the federal government to address the growing demand for general practitioners and that the plan would reduce pressure on a struggling system.
