Police seize stolen number plates, drugs and stolen goods – Cessnock

During the morning of the 8th January, Hunter Valley Target Action group receive information about some stolen number plates from Kurri Kurri.

Around 10am Police were patrolling and they spotted the stolen number plates affixed to a Commodore. Police stopped the Commodore and spoke with the 3 occupants of the vehicle.

Police conducted a search of the vehicle and located property they believe to be stolen along with an amount of Cannabis was located.

The 26-year-old female passenger from Rutherford was arrested and charged with Possess illegal drug and goods in custody.

The 33-year-old driver was also arrested and charged with a previous outstanding matter relating to a stolen motor vehicle.

A 44-year-old Cessnock female was also arrested and charged with stealing of the number plates.

These offenders will appear at Newcastle Court at the end of January.


Please be mindful that offenders will steal number plates to commit other crimes. Antitheft screws and be a deterrence and help protect your property.
