Senator Malcolm Roberts has announced plans to move a motion in Parliament tomorrow to terminate the Federal Government’s proposed under-16 social media ban.
The One Nation Senator argues that the Labor Government has no right to dictate technology standards to social media platforms, claiming it “clearly does not understand” the issue. Roberts described the ban as a potential “disaster,” calling on Labor to scrap the proposal entirely.
He added that social media companies now have the capability to use AI for safety and moderation purposes without resorting to intrusive identification measures.
“One Nation believes parents—not the nanny state—should decide what their children can and cannot access online,” Senator Roberts said.
