SHOCKING INCIDENT UNFOLDS ON NEWCASTLE INNER CITY BYPASS
In a dramatic turn of events on Friday, November 3rd, 2023, at approximately 6:25 pm, the Newcastle Highway Patrol witnessed a hair-raising display of recklessness on the Newcastle Inner City Bypass at Hillsborough. Despite the area being marked with a 90 km/h speed limit, a dark-colored Mazda 3 was spotted hurtling southbound at an alarming 150 km/h, utilizing the breakdown lane to overtake other vehicles.
Further inspection by the authorities revealed that the vehicle contained a group of five young individuals, with all four passengers reportedly indulging in alcohol consumption. However, in a small silver lining, the 17-year-old driver, after undergoing a breath test, was found to have a zero alcohol reading.
Consequences swiftly followed, as the young driver was slapped with a penalty notice of $2794 for P1 driver exceeding the speed limit by over 45 km/h and an additional $215 fine for the hazardous maneuver of overtaking to the left of a vehicle.
