Residents of Douglas Street, Wallsend, were jolted awake just after 4 AM on Monday when a car plowed through a fence and into a backyard, causing chaos.
Fire and Rescue NSW Station 484 rushed to the scene, while Newcastle City Police District officers arrived soon after. But in a twist straight out of an action movie, the vehicle’s occupants had already vanished, last seen bolting toward Birchgrove Drive.
Emergency crews worked to remove the wrecked car, which has been towed away for further investigation. Authorities are now hunting for those responsible.
