A teenage boy has died following a crash on the Central Coast early this morning.
Around 1:30 am on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, emergency services responded to a single-vehicle crash on the Pacific Highway in Charmhaven. Officers from the Tuggerah Lakes Police District arrived to find a station wagon that had collided with a tree.
A 17-year-old male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene and is yet to be formally identified.
The 19-year-old female driver initially left the scene but was located shortly after. She has been taken to Gosford Hospital and is under police guard.
A crime scene has been established, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
The Pacific Highway remains closed in both directions between Moala Parade and Jetty Avenue, Charmhaven, with local diversions in place. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and monitor www.livetraffic.com for updates and diversions.
