Teens in Hot Pursuit! Stolen Audi Crashes into Police Car and Ford Trend

It was a wild chase that could have ended in disaster! Three teenage boys and a 16-year-old girl were arrested after a high-speed pursuit with cops on the Mid North Coast yesterday.

According to reports, the young joyriders were driving a stolen Audi A1 hatchback from Wallsend when officers from Manning Great Lakes Police District spotted them on the Pacific Highway near Taree at around 9am on Thursday 30 March 2023.

Instead of pulling over as directed, the Audi accelerated and led the police on a dangerous chase, which was eventually called off due to safety concerns.

But that didn’t stop the reckless teens, who continued to speed along the highway until they crashed into a Ford Trend and an unmarked police vehicle at South Kempsey around 10.45am. Miraculously, no one was injured in the collision.

The young suspects, who were all apprehended at the scene, were taken to Kempsey Police Station and charged with various offenses.

The 16-year-old driver was slapped with charges of police pursuit, driving without the proper “L” plates, and taking and driving a stolen vehicle without the owner’s consent, among others.

Two 15-year-old boys were charged with being passengers in a stolen car, while one of them was also hit with two counts of dishonestly obtaining property by deception.

All four suspects were denied bail and are set to appear before a children’s court today (Friday 31 March 2023).

If you witnessed the incident or have any dashcam footage, please contact the police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
