Traffic Chaos Ahead: Motorists Urged to Plan Ahead
Various Parts of the Hunter Region
Motorists in the Hunter region are advised to plan their journeys this weekend due to essential maintenance work on the Tarro Bridge on the New England Highway.
The maintenance on the road-over-rail bridge at Tarro has been scheduled to align with a three-day rail corridor closure for track maintenance from August 3-6.
Throughout the weekend and on Monday, buses will replace trains for regular rail commuters, increasing pressure on the road network. Transport for NSW recommends that commuters work from home on Monday, August 5, if possible. Those who cannot are encouraged to consider alternative routes and allow extra travel time.
Additionally, maintenance work is planned for three other bridges in the Greater Newcastle area this weekend: Sandgate Rail Bridge, Industrial Drive Rail Bridge, and Kooragang Bridge.
