Tragic Workplace Fatality in Newcastle: Man Dies After Falling from Power Pole
A devastating workplace incident has occurred in Newcastle earlier this week, resulting in the loss of a man’s life. The incident took place when the individual fell from a power pole in the vicinity of Casuarina Circuit at Warabrook.
Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene, located in parkland, shortly after midnight on Monday. Despite the efforts of his co-workers who administered CPR until paramedics arrived, the 45-year-old man could not be revived.
Following the incident, NSW Police forensic teams conducted an examination of the site before transferring the case to SafeWork NSW, the state’s workplace safety authority. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatality is currently underway.
The Electrical Trades Union (ETU) NSW branch confirmed the tragic loss, identifying the deceased as one of its members. Expressing profound sorrow, the union extended condolences to the family and colleagues of the deceased.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and work mates during this difficult time,” the ETU stated on Monday, reflecting the somber mood following this unfortunate workplace accident.
