Evacuation centres for those who need them, have been set up at Merriwa RSL, School of Arts and the Showground – for those with pets, horses, stock etc.
Two Sec 44 fires declared by Rural Fire Service in Upper Hunter Shire. One at Barrington Tops with a group of fires. The other is on the Goulburn River near Merriwa called the Meads Creek West Fire.
RFS issued a leave now warning for the Meads Creek Fire at Cullingral Rd and Ringwood Rd areas.
Council crews set up road closures at Cullingral and Ringwood Rds near the Golden Hwy at the request of the Police. Our staff also had water carted to the fire ground yesterday.
FACS are setting up the evacuation centres and LLS is sorting the showground animals.
The fire continues to be managed from Mudgee RFS Control Centre.
