A family has had a lucky escape after a car ploughed into house near Cessnock in the middle of the night.

Emergency services were called to reports of vehicle that had crashed through a fence and into a house over night near Cessnock.
A spokesperson for Cessnock District Rescue Squad said the incident could been a lot worse if the car was traveling fasterd and the residents daughter was sleeping in the bedroom.
This incident could have been so much worse had the vehicle been travelling at a greater speed and the resident’s daughter been sleeping in her bed on the other side of the wall, but fortunately this was not the case.
Cessnock District Rescue Squad
After inspecting the damage, Cessnock District Rescue Squad volunteers installed a single arrow-prop to the underside of the roof frame as a safety measure for the resident.
It’s unclear clear if the driver was injured or how the accident happened at this stage.
