On Friday 10.04.2020, Merriwa Police were notified that a Toyota SUV had been stolen from a property in Neverfail Road, Merriwa.
The owner reported that she saw a young male get into the vehicle and drive off. Around 2pm, Merriwa Police sighted the vehicle and attempted to stop it but it increased its speed to evade Police.
Merriwa Police were assisted by a Highway Patrol officer who engaged in a pursuit. The vehicle now contained 4 occupants. At one stage, the vehicle traveled through the township of Merriwa before continuing into Flaggs Road where the vehicle was abandoned, and the occupants decamped on foot.
Three of the four occupants were arrested and taken back to Muswellbrook Police Station. The driver, a 14 years old male from Werris Creek was interviewed with a support person and will be referred for a Youth Conference for Driving offences.
