18-year-old man stabbed and hit with beer bottle in Nelson Bay

An 18 year old Corlette man was stabbed last Friday night in the Nelson Bay CBD after an altercation with a number of other males in the vicinity of Victoria Parade, Nelson Bay.

About 10pm the victim and two friends walked along Yacaaba Street Nelson Bay where they came into contact with a male and a second young person. These young men have begun to have to converse, with the conversation dissolving into an argument for unknown reasons.

At this time, it is alleged an unknown male has produced a knife threatening the victim and his friend. The male was told to put the knife away however an altercation has ensued resulting in the Corlette man sustaining a serious laceration to his finger. During the melee the victim had dropped his beer bottle and was knocked to the ground.

A young person in the company of the unknown male has picked up the bottle, hitting the victim in the back of the head causing a laceration and swelling. Enquiries are continuing.
