Detectives are seeking public assistance in their ongoing investigation into a suspicious death in Muswellbrook that occurred last year.

On Thursday, 30 March 2023, police were alerted to the discovery of a man’s body in Muscle Creek, Muswellbrook. Officers arrived at the scene and retrieved the body, later identified as 58-year-old Malcolm Bridge. Although found in the creek, investigators confirmed that Malcolm did not appear to have drowned, as he had suffered injuries to his face and hands.

Strike Force Bocks was established by detectives from the Hunter Valley Police District to investigate the circumstances surrounding Malcolm’s death. However, despite extensive investigations, the full details of what led to his tragic demise remain unclear.

Detective Chief Inspector Rod Blackman, the Crime Manager for the Hunter Valley Police District, emphasized the importance of community involvement in solving this case.

“We are hopeful that this appeal will jog the memory of someone who might have interacted with Malcolm or seen him before his death,” Det C/Insp Blackman said. “The past 18 months have been incredibly difficult for Malcolm’s family, and it’s crucial that anyone with information comes forward.”

Malcolm’s sister, Kathleen Howard, also made an emotional plea for closure, urging those who know what happened to come forward.

“There are people out there who know what happened to Malcolm and what his final moments were like,” Kathleen said. “We ask anyone with any information, no matter how small, to contact Muswellbrook police.”
