Man Arrested After Wild Pursuit Through Newcastle

A dramatic police chase through Newcastle has ended in the arrest of a 45-year-old man this afternoon. The pursuit began around 12:35 PM in Hamilton when officers attempted to stop a Kia Rio hatchback. The driver allegedly refused to pull over, leading police on a high-speed chase through Mayfield, where the vehicle clipped a truck’s side mirror. The chase continued to Newcastle West, where another vehicle was side-swiped, forcing police to terminate the pursuit.
