The desperate search for a missing 60-year-old man near Valentine, Newcastle, resumed this morning after he was reported missing yesterday evening.
Emergency services were called to the Croudace Bay Dog Park on Bareki Road around 5 PM, following reports of a man in distress in the water.
The man had been attempting to recover a yacht that ran aground last week when his blue and yellow tinny separated from its mooring. Witnesses say he tried to swim after the tinny but disappeared from view.
Police, Marine Area Command, Marine Rescue, and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter conducted an extensive land and sea search late into the evening but failed to locate the man.
The operation will resume today at 8 AM as hopes of finding him grow increasingly urgent.
