NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has announced a $500 million boost for regional and rural health. This includes $111.5 million for a redevelopment of Cessnock Hospital.
The details of the redevelopment are unclear at this stage, but it’s definitely welcome news as the hospital is long overdue for an overhaul.
Cessnock Hospital has been under funded and under staffed for quite some time. Long wait times and not enough doctors are all to common.
We asked the local community what they thought of their last visit to Cessnock Hospital and the results were mixed. The most common thing locals said the staff are doing their best given the current state of the hospital and staff funding. Parking was another issue that frustrates some residents.

The hospital is in dire need of a face lift and better services for a fast growing community like Cessnock. Most residents will agree this is a step in the right direction for better community health outcomes.
