A terrifying incident unfolded in Laguna yesterday, leaving an 81-year-old woman fleeing to the bush for safety after being threatened with a tomahawk.
Around 1 PM on Thursday, two males allegedly broke into several homes in the Laguna area, causing damage and stealing various items. By 3 PM, the woman returned to her property, only to be confronted by one of the men, who reportedly threatened her with a tomahawk. He allegedly pushed her, causing abdominal pain, before smashing her vehicle with the weapon. The woman managed to escape to nearby bushland.
Shortly after, the pair reportedly rammed a parked car while driving on Blaxlands Arm Road, prompting a police response. Officers from the Hunter Valley Police District intercepted the suspects’ vehicle in Wollombi around 3:15 PM. A search allegedly uncovered the tomahawk and several stolen items.
A 44-year-old man was arrested and charged with seven offences, denied bail, and is set to appear in Singleton Local Court today. A 15-year-old boy was also charged with three offences and granted strict conditional bail to appear in a children’s court in December.
