The Albanese Labor Government has announced it will fast-track construction of the $304.8 million Muswellbrook Bypass, a move aimed at reducing congestion, improving road safety, and boosting local job opportunities.
The investment, which was initially scheduled for later years, will now be brought forward to get construction underway sooner than expected.
Local Labor representatives, including Dan Repacholi MP, have praised the decision, highlighting the economic and safety benefits for the Muswellbrook community.
“This is a huge win for our town. The bypass will ease congestion, create jobs, and support local businesses,” Mr. Repacholi said.
Federal Infrastructure Minister Catherine King MP also welcomed the accelerated timeline, reaffirming Labor’s commitment to regional infrastructure improvements.
The bypass, once completed, is expected to:
✅ Divert heavy traffic away from the town center
✅ Improve road safety for residents and visitors
✅ Boost local employment through construction and long-term economic growth
Labor MPs say this investment is part of their broader plan to build a stronger, safer, and more connected future for regional Australia.
