A tragic two-vehicle crash in the Hunter region has claimed the life of a 17-year-old learner driver, leaving another teenager critically injured.
The crash occurred around 9 PM on Tuesday, 18 March 2025, on John Renshaw Drive, Black Hill, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
Police from the Hunter Valley Police District arrived to find a Holden Commodore and a Ford utility had collided.
The learner driver of the Holden tragically died at the scene.
A 17-year-old rear passenger sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital for urgent treatment.
The front passenger, a 56-year-old man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
The 62-year-old female driver of the Ford utility sustained minor injuries and was taken to John Hunter Hospital for mandatory testing.
Investigation Underway
A crime scene has been established, and police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
