In a significant breakthrough following the ongoing police operation in Muswellbrook, a 27-year-old man has been charged and firearms seized during a search warrant executed yesterday.
The operation, conducted by Strike Force Kilbride, stemmed from investigations into an alleged public place shooting in Denman earlier this month. Collaborative efforts involving officers from Hunter Valley Police District, State Surveillance Branch, Tactical Operations Unit, and State Crime Command’s Serious Crime and Robbery Squad led to the execution of the search warrant.
The search uncovered a range of items of interest at the Muswellbrook residence, including a Holden Colorado, two loaded homemade firearms, a loaded shortened .22 caliber rifle, and .22 caliber and shotgun rounds – all promptly confiscated by authorities.
The 27-year-old male occupant faces a total of 17 charges, encompassing offenses such as possessing unauthorised prohibited firearms, firing a firearm in a public place, aggravated break and enter with intent – armed, and drug-related charges. The suspect has been denied bail and is scheduled to appear before Singleton Local Court today, Thursday, January 18, 2024. Stay tuned for further updates on this unfolding investigation.
