Today’s climate activists targeted a Hunter Valley coal train at Sandgate, with protesters forcing the train to stop and one activist climbing up on the train and live streaming to Facebook, the protest lasted around 3 hours with 20 year old Mia Bloom arrested for the stunt.
The Activists targeted the train to coincide with the Environment Minister Sussan Ley’s appeal to a decision by the High Court that she has a duty of care to protect children from climate change.
The woman from Hamilton was taken to Newcastle Police Station and charged with enter prescribed premises of any person without lawful excuse, cause/attempt to cause train or tram in motion to be stopped and cause obstruction to railway locomotive or rolling stock.
