Wallsend Fire and Rescue responded to an address in Birmingham Gardens on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, around 2:25 pm after receiving reports that a resident was starting fires using accelerant despite a Total Fire Ban.
Upon arriving at the location, firefighters discovered a male burning grass in his front yard. When questioned about his actions, the man stated that it was too difficult to use a lawn trimmer.
